                    Water the Elixer

     Sir C.V.Raman says that water is the commenest of all liquids. But it is the Elixer of life .The Nile valley is fertile because of the water of the river Nile following into it.Egypt in fact ,was made by it's river.Its ancient civilization was entirely due to the life giving waters of the Nile .The water in ponds and streams quench the thirst of cattle .The tanks filled with water play a vital role in South Indian agriculture .                                                                                      .       All these show that water is the Elixer of life.water is the basic of all life.Every animaloplant contains a large proportion of water in it's body.The water may be in a free or combined form.water plays an essential part in the physiological activity of all iving things .water is necessary for animal life.Moisture in the soli is essential for the life and growth of plants and trees.
        The quality of the water needed may vary with the species.Thus water is essential for the existence of all plant and animal forms.
        Moisture in the soli is absorbed by plants and trees . The water so absorbed is useful for their life and growth .All these prove that life cannot exist without water.
